No fish for you

(Luke is writing it this post): after I spent a rough night on the toilet, we left the hotel on May 13 by about 730 am. The road became particularly bumpy (no grating or paving) on our way down the hillside to the next river crossing. I can now say that having food poisoning while being thrown around in a bouncing truck ranks lower on my list than say, foot massages or breakfast in bed. Fortunately, we only had a 3 hour ride to the next coring site, and I was able to lay down for a few minutes while Garrison organized the gear and we got ready to core. The inn keeper/farmer/fisherman offered to paddle us out in his boat so we could core the lake, which appears to have been created by a dammed stream resulting from a massive land slide some time ago. The wooden boat had leaky floor boards that Naran hastily tried to patch by jamming cotton into the holes with a screw driver while we cored. As we finished up the longer second core, the sky darkened and rain drops spattered down on us. The inn keeper had to really work against the wind to get us back to shore.

Before dinner, Naran asked Garrison if he would like fried or curried fish for dinner (they recently started a fish farm near the center of the lake). After offering the fish to Garrison, he turned to me and said, "no fish" (I assume due to my stomach problems all day, but who knows...). Apparently the curried fish was delicious. Ask garrison when we get back- I had ramen.
